Virtual Watercolour Demo - Sailing Through Watercolours: A Tall Ship Adventure 19th Nov 2024

€69.00

Zoom is proving to be a very effective method of watercolour tuition and I’m excited to meet and paint with students from around the world that I don’t have the honour of meeting and painting with in person!

You can paint along or sit back and take it all in as I demonstrate how I create my watercolours.

Each session costs €69 and included is a photo reference for my demo painting and a written email critique of your work produced on the virtual workshop.

Duration: 2 hrs

Time: 6 - 8pm GMT

IMPORTANT: Class is conducted via Zoom, please visit www.zoom.us to download the Zoom app for your laptop, tablet or phone, whichever device you plan to use to take the workshop or course. You will receive an email inviting you to join the session.

Testimonials from artists I’ve had the pleasure of teaching:

Sebastian’s class was an excellent experience for me. I am experienced with watercolor but found new techniques to add to my arsenal. His explanations were clear, his demonstrations easy to follow. I especially enjoyed him going from a Plein Air sketch to a studio painting, teaching all the techniques along the way. I would not hesitate to take another class from Sebastian.

-Mickey Anderson

Sebastian has a knack for breaking down the most challenging compositions into simple shapes and colours. He makes complex subjects understandable, easy to digest. Seb is an amiable / easygoing chap, and a clear communicator - which makes learning easy. The workshop experience was fun, friendly, and casual, and it catered for all skill levels. I came away with some new skills myself, but more importantly - I came away with the confidence to pick up a brush again thanks to Sebastian’s insight into the world of watercolour.”

- Jason O'Gorman

“ I spent two days taking part in a water colour workshop with Sebastian Thommen last weekend and I can honestly say the experience of demonstration, teaching, sharing, listening, and encouragement rekindled my passion for painting and Gave me the confidence to take brush, paint and water to paper !!

Sebastian is a lovely easy going but organised teacher who shares all his skills and expertise without reservation

I was on a high after the workshop and look forward to partaking in further classes in the future.”

French Ultramarine Blue

Cobalt Blue

Sepia

Alizarian Crimson

Burnt Sienna

Raw Sienna

Hansa Yellow Deep

Yellow Ochre

Pyrrol Red

BRUSHES:

I use big and small MOP brushes and pointed sable brushes. squirrel (not synthetic!), although any watercolour mop brush in Cork Art Supplies will do.

If you fancy splurging online Alvaro's Signature Brushes are quite good. Made of Premier Squirrel hair, they are soft and very absorbent, with long handles. # 10 (Or nearest size to)

1 rigger or needle point for fine details and lines.

Small synthetic brushes # 4, 5, 6 (for fine detail work) or 8,10 & 12 (Alvaro's Escoda Set)

PAPER: Arches, Saunders Waterford or alike, 300 grams / 140 lb Rough

A kitchen towel

Masking tape
