What sets you apart as an instructor is that you are teaching the whole process:  from the first sketch, and quick painting, to the value study, to adjusting the painting to make a better composition, to a final painting.  Most of the other instructors start with the final painting and the students don’t see all the foundational steps.  Thank you for your instruction!  I love the way you talk about all the ideas that are going through your mind. 

This lesson was certainly a challenge. After my sketchbook painting looked like such a mess, I thought about quitting. I haven’t done urban landscapes before.  But I am getting the message.  Good paintings take more than once and done sometimes.  And I enjoyed painting on the second one - so many things for me to learn.

I just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying and learning from your class. I started painting during Covid days, copying tutorials from you tube. Now I am trying to find my own style. I love the looseness of your work. I have never tried plein air, but I love the outdoors and hiking.

As we were hiking yesterday, I was continually looking for what would be "the star of the show" if I were painting the scene.
